It's almost Kristina's 18th birthday, and she is ready to celebrate. Her sister, Leigh, is coming in town with her partner, Heather, who is a cheerleader. Then, her and family find out that her father is also coming in town with his girlfriend, Linda Sue. Leigh is furious, having not seen her father since she was young, but reluctantly agrees after Kristina asks her and Heather to be Hunter's godparents. Unfortunately, Kristina and Heather start off on the wrong foot. Heather suspects of Kristina's addiction, and Kristina knows of Heather's bulimia. When Kristina's dad finally shows, things get heated. Leigh attacks him with questions, ones that she knows he is incapable of answering. "What took you so long, Father? Too busy to pick up the phone?" (205) Kristina interrupts, though, just as things are about to get ugly. Before her dad leaves, he asks her if she has some meth.
