Kristina's New Life

Unfortunately, Kristina and her dad do not make it in time to Hunter's baptism. Her mother is beyond upset and disappointed. About a month later, Kristina gets a call from Trey, and this starts up a whole new life for her. They quickly fall in love and, blinded my lust, Kristina starts to forget that she has responsibilities toward her kid, and toward her family. She spends her time getting high and making love with Trey, instead of caring for the ones who matter. Then, Kristina's mom kicks her out. "I don't care where you go. Live on the street, sleep in your car. Just don't come back here. And don't ask for money. Get help, Kristina" (350). Kristina then decides to ask Brad, Trey's cousin, if she can stay with him, and he agrees. Brad, who is a drug dealer, offers Kristina a job. Her first client is her baby's father, the rapist, and she almost turns away before realizing that a deal is just a deal. She also is a nanny for Brad's kids, who always ask her if their mommy will ever come back. This stings.
